CHARACTERS
At its core, Daughters of the Moon is a story driven by character as much as horror. The werewolves, cults, and spectacle only matter because of the emotional conflict between the people trapped inside them. Cora’s hunger for truth, Catrina’s devotion to the life she has been promised, Abraham’s warped sense of love and control, and Simon’s desperate fight to reclaim his family create the emotional backbone of the film. Every transformation, betrayal, and revelation carries weight because the story is ultimately about identity, family, and the fear of becoming something you were taught to hate. The horror works not simply because monsters exist, but because the characters are forced to confront who they truly are beneath the lies, expectations, and mythology surrounding them.
Cora
Cora is the smarter and more skeptical of the twin sisters, quietly questioning the manufactured world built around her for as long as she can remember. Curious, resourceful, and fiercely independent, she longs to see the world beyond the walls of the Victorian prison she calls home. While others cling to comfort and obedience, Cora senses something deeply wrong beneath the cult’s carefully constructed illusion. Her journey transforms her from a frightened captive into a powerful young werewolf forced to embrace the very thing she was taught to fear.
Catrina
Catrina is the perfect princess: obedient, elegant, and fully devoted to the fantasy life Abraham has created for her. Unlike Cora, she embraces the gifts, rituals, and promises of the cult, believing that loyalty and good behavior will lead to the perfect future she dreams of. But when the truth about her family and her own nature is revealed, Catrina is forced to confront the monster within herself and choose between the safety of illusion and the terrifying freedom of the truth.
Abraham
Abraham is the charismatic and controlling patriarch who has raised Cora and Catrina in total isolation under the guise of protection. To the girls, he is a loving father figure, teacher, and guardian, but beneath his composed exterior lies a manipulative cult leader obsessed with harnessing the power of the werewolf bloodline. Intelligent, imposing, and deeply fanatical, Abraham believes the ends justify the means, even if it means sacrificing the very daughters he claims to love.
Simon
Simon is Cora and Catrina’s true father, a hunted man forced to live in the shadows after the Cult of the Moon destroyed his family and stole his daughters away. Hardened by years of isolation and survival, Simon carries the scars of a man constantly on the run, yet beneath his rough exterior remains a compassionate father desperate to save his children. As a werewolf, he becomes both mentor and protector to Cora, teaching her to control the beast within before the cult destroys them all.
