LOGLINE
A social media treasure hunt leads a young couple into the haunted woods of Redtree, where they uncover a generations-old pact between the town and the land itself, and learn that some gold is paid for in blood.
SUMMARY
The Redtree Tapes follows Sasha Collins, a rising lifestyle influencer, and her filmmaker boyfriend Kyle as they travel to the remote Northern California town of Redtree to investigate a decades-old legend surrounding missing gold hidden by a prospector named Samuel Brown. What begins as a fun, viral-ready treasure hunt quickly spirals into something far darker when the couple discovers abandoned campsites, cryptic journals, strange ritual totems, and a town deeply unsettled by their questions. Through their cameras, livestreams, and recovered footage, Sasha and Kyle slowly uncover a horrifying truth: Redtree’s prosperity was built on an ancient pact demanding blood in exchange for wealth.
As they dig deeper into the mystery, the line between folklore and reality collapses. The couple becomes trapped in a town ruled by fear, secrecy, and a cult-like devotion to “the land.” Their footage captures the unraveling of both their relationship and their sanity as they are hunted through the forests surrounding Devil’s Mound and the ruins of Samuel Brown’s settlement. What starts as an internet adventure transforms into a desperate fight for survival against a community willing to kill to protect its terrible secret.
Blending found-footage realism, folk horror mythology, and modern influencer culture, The Redtree Tapes is a tense descent into obsession, greed, and generational evil, where every sacrifice feeds the land, and every camera may become evidence of the next disappearance.
